Dávid Ülkei  Biography

SOPRANO SAXOPHONE, ALTO SAXOPHONE, CLARINET

He was born in 1984 in Budapest. Dávid started his musical studies at the age of six on violin and he switched to saxophone when he was 16. His first teacher was the Israeli based alto saxophonist Hovav Israel, later he took private lessons from István Elek and Kristóf Bacsó. In the year 2007 he was granted to the jazz faculty of the Ferenc Liszt Accademy of Music in Budapest, Hungary, and learned saxophone and clarinet from István Elek and Mihály Borbély. In 2011 he achieved second place of the Hungarian Jazz Federations Jazz Combo Competition. In 2015 he received his master degree as a saxophone teacher. As a session musician he was busy recording and playing with a numerous hungarian productions including Peter Geszti, Zoran Stevanovity, Laszlo Des and David Lamms productions. Currently he is playing with Ferenc Kovács’s Magony quintet and from 2010 onwards he is a member of the Modern Art Orchestra.
