Gábor Cseke  Biography

PIANO

A pianist, composer and music arranger, was born in Pecs, Hungary.
After his studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, he became part of the Hungarian and International Jazz scene.
Throughout his career, he played with such award winning international stars as:
Peter Erskine, Wallace Rooney, Johnny Griffin, David Liebman, Zbigniew Namyslowski, Silje Nergaard, Bob Mintzer, Bireli Lagrene, The Harlem Gospel Choir, Rhoda Scott, Adam Nussbaum, Kurt Elling, Peo Alfonsi, Gumbi Ortiz, Al Di Meola; among many others.

-Artistic director and permanent piano accompanist of the Hungarian Radio talent competitions.
-2013: Preformed a piano duet at the Steinway Festival in London with pianist Janos Nagy.
-2013-2015: Participated in the “Music Boat”- a monthly interactive educational lecture on music- as a part of The Modern Art Orchestra.
-2015: Preformed a concert of his own compositions with the Modern Art Orchestra.
-2015: Composed and performed the soundtrack for the audio version of the upcoming book “Century of Jazz” by Peter Pallai and Gyorgy Kerekes.
-He has given concerts in Austria, Romania, England, Greece, Turkey, Slovakia, Croatia, Taiwan, Mexico and the United States of America.

Albums:
He was part of over 40 albums as a studio musician, music arranger, and composer.
He recorded albums with Tony Lakatos, David Liebman, Al Di Meola, among many others.

Tours:
-2012: Mexico with Eszter Horgas’s jazz band
-2014: USA, San Diego, Los Angeles, and New York City with The Modern Art Orchestra

Awards:
2006: Received the Emerton Award, as the pianist of the best jazz album of the year
2008: Received the Artisjus Award for serving the Hungarian musical culture by performing works of contemporary Hungarian Composers.
2014: Received the Best Soloist Award, VII Jazzy Song Competition
