Modern Art Orchestra’s unique sound evolves from the blend of a professional big band with a chamber string arrangement. Our symphonic lineup is full with the co-operation of our professional partner, the Hungarian Studio Orchestra (concertmaster: Balázs Bujtor).
Modern Art Orchestra’s repertory contains more than 15 hours of music uniquely composed for, dedicated to and premiered by the band. Among others, Péter Eötvös, one of Hungary’s internationally most renowned composers dedicated his music piece, Paris–Dakar to us. This composition was premiered to the audience of the Shanghai World Expo 2010 in China by the Modern Art Orchestra with a great success.
We began our career with being a jazz big band that plays mostly contemporary compositions, and provides stage appearance to young performing talents – thus being a creative artistic workshop for a handful of carefully chosen young musicians. Now, after over eight years of its ambitious activity, our band has gained its status as a creative ensemble with fresh and unique style that is sought after by many of the world’s leading artists as an accompanying partner to their latest projects.
Modern Art Orchestra is proud to present its latest engagement with one of the doyens of the world’s film music: Ennio Morricone has chosen our band for his world tour in 2014. The concert series is taking place in eleven cities throughout Europe from Paris to Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Brussels or Amsterdam. It is our privilege to present the maestro’s best soundtrack songs as well as his chamber orchestra pieces.
