ALLEGRO BARBARO by BÉLA BARTÓK (arr. by GÁBOR SUBICZ)
The Allegro Barbaro is perhaps the most known short composition of Bartók. The legendary Hungarian composer is and always has been a great inspirational force for Modern Art Orchestra’s musicians due to his unorthodox and creative use of time, rhythm and harmony. Subicz’s arrangement is written for big band and is infused with the approaches of jazz. The original recording is to be found on MAO’s 2019 album, Contemporary Music. MAO went further with saluting and saving Béla Bartók’s musical heritage and dedicated a whole concert program and album, MAO plays Béla Bartók 15 Hungarian Peasant Songs to the master.
