BALLAD “ANGOLI BORBÁLA” by BÉLA BARTÓK (arr. by KRISTÓF BACSÓ)
This arrangement from Kristóf Bacsó is cut on the 2018 record Modern Art Orchestra plays Béla Bartók: 15 Peasant Songs. This album and concert program is the first of Modern Art Orchestra’s series saluting great Hungarian musicians. Fifteen Hungarian Peasant Songs is a composition of Béla Bartók based on short folk melodies, originally arranged for piano. These movements are transcripted into big band pieces by the Modern Art Orchestra’s creative composers: Kristóf Bacsó, János Ávéd, Gábor Subicz and Kornél Fekete-Kovács. The short songs are transcripted conserving and respecting their original form. The pieces are connected by the composer’s fresh compositions and the improvisation of the featured soloists: Veronika Harcsa – vocal, David Liebman – saxophone, Mihály Dresch – fuhun, László Gőz – bass trumpet, Miklós Lukács – cymbalo.
